Instructions

1

Confirm Rough-In Dimensions

Verify your framed opening is exactly 32"×36". Check that the drain rough-in aligns with the drain hole location on your specific base model. Measure twice before any cutting.

2

Prepare the Subfloor

The subfloor must be clean, flat, and structurally solid. Remove any old flooring, adhesive, or debris. Check for soft spots and repair any damaged subfloor before proceeding.

3

Dry-Fit the Base

Set the shower base into position without mortar to confirm the drain aligns perfectly. Mark the drain center point on the subfloor. Check that the base sits level in all directions using a 4-ft level.

4

Connect the Drain Assembly

Install the drain body into the subfloor drain rough-in. Apply plumber's putty under the drain flange lip. Thread the drain nut from below and tighten until the drain is snug and the putty compresses evenly.

5

Mix & Spread Mortar Bed

Mix a dry-pack mortar (4 parts sand, 1 part cement) or use pre-mixed shower base mortar. Spread a 1–2" layer evenly across the subfloor where the base will sit. Do not cover the drain opening.

6

Set the Base

Carefully lower the shower base onto the mortar bed, aligning the drain hole over the drain body. Press down firmly and twist slightly to seat it into the mortar. Check level in all four directions and adjust as needed.

7

Secure the Base

Most bases have pre-drilled flanges along the top edge. Nail or screw these flanges into the wall studs to prevent the base from shifting. Do not over-drive fasteners — just snug.

8

Connect the Drain

From below (if accessible) or through the drain opening, connect the drain strainer to the drain body. Tighten the compression nut or snap the strainer into place per the drain manufacturer's instructions.

9

Allow Mortar to Cure

Do not use the shower for at least 24 hours to allow the mortar to set. Keep weight off the base during curing.

10

Caulk the Perimeter

After walls are installed, apply 100% silicone caulk (matching your grout color) in the joint where the base meets the walls. Never use grout in this joint — it will crack. Smooth with a wet finger and allow 24 hours to cure.
