Instructions
Photograph the Routing
Before removing the old belt, take a clear photo of how it routes around each pulley. There is also usually a routing diagram sticker in the engine bay.
Locate the Tensioner
The automatic tensioner is a spring-loaded pulley. Locate it and identify the square or hex socket on the tensioner arm for your breaker bar.
Release Tension and Remove Belt
Insert your breaker bar into the tensioner socket and rotate in the direction that relieves tension (usually counterclockwise). Slip the belt off the nearest pulley while holding tension.
Route New Belt
Following your photo or diagram, route the new belt around all pulleys EXCEPT the tensioner. Leave the tensioner for last.
Install Over Tensioner
Rotate the tensioner again and slip the belt over the tensioner pulley. Release slowly. The belt should be taut and seated in all pulley grooves.
Start and Check
Start the engine and verify the belt runs smoothly without wobble or noise. Check belt alignment on all pulleys.
