Instructions
Turn Off Power
Turn off the circuit breaker for the room. Use a non-contact voltage tester to verify power is off at the ceiling box before touching any wires.
Install Fan-Rated Box
Ceiling fans require a fan-rated electrical box (not a standard light box). Install a brace bar between joists if no joist is accessible.
Assemble the Fan
Assemble motor, canopy, and blades per manufacturer instructions on the ground first. It's much easier than working on a ladder.
Hang the Motor
Hook the motor bracket onto the mounting ball or hang on the downrod. This allows you to wire with both hands without holding the motor.
Connect the Wires
Connect black to black (or blue for light kit), white to white, and green or bare copper to green or bare copper. Secure with wire nuts.
Attach Blades and Light Kit
Attach blade irons and blades per the manual. Install the light kit if included, connecting the blue wire from the motor to the light kit wires.
Balance the Fan
Turn on power and run the fan. If it wobbles, use a blade balancing kit (included with most fans) to add small weights until vibration stops.
