Instructions
Identify Faucet Type
Single handle ball faucets use a ball and spring assembly. Single handle cartridge faucets use a replaceable cartridge. Double handle compression faucets use rubber washers.
Shut Off Water
Turn off the supply valves under the sink. Turn on the faucet to relieve pressure and drain remaining water.
Disassemble the Handle
Pop off the decorative cap, remove the screw, and lift off the handle. Different faucets vary — look up your model for specifics.
Remove the Cartridge or Valve
Use pliers to pull out the cartridge (note the orientation). For ball faucets, use the special wrench tool to remove the cap and collar.
Replace Worn Parts
For cartridges, take the old one to the hardware store to match it exactly. Replace all O-rings and springs in the kit. Apply plumber's grease to all rubber parts.
Reassemble and Test
Reinstall in reverse order. Turn water back on slowly. Test hot and cold operation. Check for drips at the spout and leaks at the base.
