Instructions

1

Shut Off and Drain

Turn off the water supply valve behind the toilet. Flush to drain the tank. Use a sponge and bucket to remove remaining water from tank and bowl.

2

Disconnect Supply Line

Unscrew the supply line from the bottom of the tank by hand or with pliers. Have a towel ready for residual water.

3

Remove the Toilet

Pry off the cap covers at the base. Remove the nuts from the flange bolts. Rock the toilet side to side to break the wax seal, then lift straight up.

4

Stuff the Drain

Stuff a rag into the drain opening to block sewer gases while you work. Remove old wax from the flange with a putty knife.

5

Set the New Wax Ring

Press the new wax ring onto the toilet horn (underside of the bowl), wax side down. Or set it on the flange — either method works.

6

Set the Toilet

Remove the rag. Lower the toilet over the flange bolts, aligning the holes with the bolts. Press down firmly and rock slightly to compress the wax ring.

7

Secure and Connect

Hand-tighten nuts on the flange bolts, alternating sides. Do not overtighten — you can crack the porcelain. Connect the new supply line.

8

Test and Caulk

Turn on the water. Flush several times and check for leaks at the base and supply line. Caulk around the base leaving a gap at the back for leak detection.
