Instructions
Prep the Subfloor
The subfloor must be flat within 3/16 inch per 10 feet. Fill low spots with floor leveling compound. Remove high spots by sanding. Remove baseboards.
Acclimate the Flooring
Leave planks in the room for 24-48 hours to acclimate to temperature and humidity. This prevents expansion/contraction after install.
Install Underlayment
Roll out foam underlayment (if not pre-attached), overlapping seams by 2 inches. Tape seams with tape.
Plan the Layout
Measure the room width and calculate if the last row will be too narrow (under 2 inches). If so, trim the first row to balance the layout.
Start the First Row
Place spacers along starting walls for a 1/4-inch expansion gap. Click planks together end to end. Keep the tongue facing out for the next row.
Install Subsequent Rows
Stagger end joints by at least 6 inches. Angle planks at 30° to click the long side, then press down. Use a tapping block to close end joints.
Cut Around Obstacles
Use a jigsaw to cut around door casings, vents, and other obstacles. Undercut door casings so the floor slides underneath.
Finish with Trim
Remove spacers. Install quarter-round or shoe molding to cover the expansion gap. Do not nail molding to the floor — only to the baseboard.
